Affiliate marketing is a way to make money online by promoting other people's products, tools, and/or services. You earn a commission for every sale, install, or conversion. If you’re reading this guide we assume you’re familiar with OGAds and our tools. If you’re not, you’ll want to watch this course as an introduction. Now, you might be wondering - how do I find a good niche for affiliate marketing? Well, we answer this question in this post. Let’s dive into it.
My personal favourite for finding niches requires using the search bar on YouTube and using a tool called vidIQ. vidIQ is a data-driven tool to help you find keywords on YouTube that have higher search volume and potentially lower competition. To find niches you’ll want to type in something such as how to get free then after you’ll type different characters such as o or b. You’ll see this will return a list of potential keywords/niches you could check out.
From here with the viqID extension installed we could check out the keyword shown above on YouTube. This will appear on the right hand side.
As you can see there is a overall score of medium. The volume is at 54 which is pretty good! But the competition is considered medium. If it was me I would for sure try and rank for this niche. If you’re to rinse and repeat this process I’m sure you’ll come up with a giant list of keywords or niches in no time.
Next up, we have keyword research tools. Tools such as Ahrefs, Mangools, and Semrush are fantastic for helping you get niche or keyword ideas. However, there is a downside - they are used for SEO and they cost money. For this example we’re going to use Ahrefs. You’d want to go to the keyword explorer. You’d want to enter in a broad term for what you’re interested in. Let’s say budget travel.
After, you’d want to look for matching or related terms. You’d then filter by keyword difficulty. In our case we found the keyword “travel budget template google sheets” which has a search volume of 300 and a keyword difficulty of 1.
We could use this keyword to make a site and attempt to rank on Google. We could create and lock the Google Sheet behind a content locker to make money for every completed conversion.
Next up, we have Steam. This is great for finding games that are new releases and popular amongst the community. You can find a direct link to the Steam charts here. Once on the website you’ll want to look at the top sellers, or the most played.
You can see the number one selling game right now is Oblivion Remastered. You could make a guide covering how to get the best items in the game in record time. Or, take the game idea and find what’s popular on YouTube/Keyword Research Tools for it.
We covered the desktop market for games. But what about mobile? The mobile industry is also massive. You can find the top games on a site such as APKPure. On the website, you can find top apps and games in the last 24 hours.
You could take these app or game ideas and get creative with using them for a niche. For example, you could make a guide on tips and tricks to level up fast. You could take the game or app and then find what people are searching for on YouTube, Google, or Ahrefs.
Finding a niche for affiliate marketing doesn’t have to be complicated - you just need the right tools and a little bit of creativity. Whether you’re using YouTube with vidIQ, diving into keyword research with Ahrefs, or searching the charts on Steam. There are endless opportunities out there! The key to affiliate marketing is to stay consistent, keep experimenting, and jump on new trends early. Now it’s time to take action and start building.
